OVERVIEW
The
artists who come to H'Art Studio embrace the creative process
and the results are extraordinary. The works of art are vital
and vibrant in colour, form and content. The
studio provides an environment where the artists are respected
and supported, and their personal growth and self-expression
is nurtured and self-directed.
OUR CURRICULUM
Learning at the studio is curriculum based, and is modified according to ability and comprehension. Through
journaling, drawing and painting, participants develop their creative, communication, motor, life and social skills. There are two essential components of learning at H'Art of Ottawa: literacy and art
Literacy: Transforming ideas and emotions into written words
H'Art offers holistic programming, combining experiential, multi-sensory and concrete approaches. Literacy skills are practised and reinforced in different contexts, such as group discussion, journaling, titling of art work as
well as through more formalized instruction.
Art: Using art as the vehicle
Our goal is to implement creative ways to assist participants in their artwork. Through personalized instruction, peer tutoring
and co-operative learning, participants are given the opportunity to explore their unique artistic expression.
The
Celebration of People Awards, December 1st 2005
presented H'Art of Ottawa with the Education Award. Celebration of People marked the United
Nations International Day of Disabled Persons. The Celebration
of People Awards Dinner honoured 11 individuals and organizations whose innovations and vision
create opportunities for people with disabilities to live, work
and play in our community.
PROGRAM BENEFITS
H'Art

environment where our participants are:

Given the opportunity to foster life long learning.
Introduced to social networks within the
