H’Art artist Jessie McComb’s painting of a herring seagull is now on the Sea Legs wine label. Thank you to Jessie’s aunt, Janet Dodds, and to Rodney T. Clarke, who were instrumental in making this happen!
Rodney T. Clark, from Rodney’s Oyster House, talks about the artist:
A Sea Legs label is sought not by a who’s who in the illustration/art world but, like the efforts to make it, by seeing the passion in a visual idea!
Jessie has walked by my world almost every Summer, on Prince Edward Island.
She is always asking questions about shells, birds, and how am I doing! She always has her hands full of ideas, as well as her mind.
We owe this 2013 label to a number of things.
Firstly the bond between Jessie’s painting talents, her subject of the Herring Gull and her Aunt Janet, the infamous Ottawa area Real Estate Mogul, who brought us all together.
What brilliant colour, what starkness in the design on the board, like the bird… on the beach… in a backdrop of brilliant sky.
Richard and Les at DesignSource were more than keen to administrate the original work to the disciplines of label sizing and creativity in design.
Jessie captured the Herring Gull and DesignSource administrated it to The Cave Spring Winery’s criteria of front and back detailing.
Brilliant design for Angelo Pavan, Vintner/wine making master of Cave Spring Cellars of Jordan, Ontario(one of Canada’s original artisan makers of wine), used the Estate VQA 2012 wines of Cave Spring, to blend 2013 SeaLegs.
This label will be seen until, it is estimated Fall/September 2014.
Rodney’s is very pleased to use this label, in seeing Jessie’s passions, work with all the variables.
In freeing the spirit of the visual, one gets into the wine when looking at SeaLegs 2013 label.
Thank You Jessie.
Thanks To The Herring Gull that drew Jessie’s attention.
Your Urban Oysterman,
Rodney T. Clark
