journaling, drawing and painting, participants develop communication,

H'Art
of Ottawa endeavours to provide participants with a safe entrepreneurial
environment where our participants are:
Given the opportunity to reinforce and further their
skills
(literacy, art).
Given the opportunity to foster life long learning.
Introduced to social networks within the studio and greater Ottawa
community through facilitated activities.

Do
participants have community contact outside the studio?
Yes. Outside the social networking within the studio the
participants become involved with the Ottawa community. Through
facilitated activities and active participation and exposure

to represent and present their abilities.

Who

Participation is open to developmentally disabled adults in
the Ottawa area. Many of our participants are referred by local
agencies, as well as families, friends and self-referrals.
H'Art of Ottawa looks for individuals who are able to
participate, and do so in an enthusiastic and behaviorally appropriate manner. Participants must be independent when eating snacks and lunches, using the bathroom facilities and taking medications. Arriving and leaving the studio independently is also a requisite.
To enrol in the program, an individual participates in an intake interview with our art director. If all parties are in agreement
an intake form is filled out. Attendance at
a trial session follows.
If all parties are in agreement that
the participant will benefit from the program, the participant attends a trial session. At the present time, program enrollment is full and the individual will be added to our waiting list.
